In comparison to other Arab countries, Lebanese women consider themselves lucky to be born in a country where they can enjoy their freedom of dressing whatever they want, or driving their own cars without a male. Yet, it is frustrating for them to know that they will not be able to give their husbands or children the Lebanese nationality if they decide to marry a "non-Lebanese"man, even if they were born and raised in Lebanon.
Giving children who were born and raised outside Lebanon, and who might not even know Lebanon or are not even interested in this country, a citizenship just because their fathers are Lebanese, and not giving it to those who were born and lived their whole life in Lebanon just because their fathers are not Lebanese is incredibly unbelievable! Instead of giving women their "rights" to go out whenever they want or wherever they want, and instead of giving them the "right" to dress up the way they want, or not even dressing at all if they feel like it, why not consider giving them a right that will affect their lives and that of their children?

Lebanon still has a long way before it reaches the level of women rights and freedom that a stranger coming into the country might first think it has.And concerning the right to dress and whatever, is not really a right that we should stop at it and just wonder what to wear next. Its really bigger than that.
ReplyDeletethat's my point!
DeleteYes...Unfortunately, it is Lebanon that doesn't recognizes the rights of women, knowing that god has honored women and make women equal to men!!!
ReplyDeleteif only they think about it this way....
DeleteDo you think that Lebanon can become one of the countries that give the women all their rights?
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, this is true ! I used to believe that I was lucky to be born in Lebanon where I enjoy such freedoms as dressing or whatever manner I please but as I grow older I found that I am not certain I am lucky in Lebanon after all !!
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry that my children will not take the Lebanese citizen! It's really a serous problem. Hope that it will be fixed.
